I had a great opportunity to speak at the University of Texas Fall 2016 Seminars and Lectures Sessions at the Thompson Conference Center attended by over 150 students. My presentation was on my White House photography of George H.W. Bush, but also included were photos of President George W. Bush, President Obama and Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush. I started my presentation with a Today Show video where they did a great piece on me when I was working at the White House.

I use Camera+ as my go to Camera on my iPhone. The Camera+ app in the app store is $2.99 for the iPhone and $4.99 for the iPad. I love the editing capabilities that come with the app. There are numerous camera apps available and I have tried many of them but I always come back to my favorite Camera+. Camera+ just added a Camera+ for the iPad. I downloaded it on my iPad Air. Not sure if I will use it a lot but I know when I hold classes on iPhone Photography I can use the iPad for a teaching tool since the iPad is larger and I can use it as a reference in showing the operation of Camera+. Another new feature of Camera+ is Full Manual capabilities. You can reach the Full Manual option in the Menu under Advanced Controls. Have fun with the manual option which will allow you to adjust shutter speed and ISO. On the lower right of the front of Camera+ is the Menu bar. Go there to reach the extensive Menu options. This is what the main menu page looks like. At the bottom of the page is the option for Advanced Controls. This is where you go to the Manual Settings. Under Advanced Controls page click on Full Manual and your Manual option is set. Once you click on Full Manual don't forget to click Done on the top right, Then you are ready to go. Have fun! I have been invited to speak about my White House photography two times this month. The first one will be at the University of Texas in Austin. My presentation is titled: "David Valdez; White House Photo History of the George H.W. Bush Presidency". It is scheduled for October 19, 2016 from 1:30-2:45 in room 1.110 in the Thompson Conference Center at the University of Texas. Sorry this event is Sold Out.
The second speaking engagement is Oct 29th at the Bell County Museum, 201 N. Main Street, Belton, Texas 76513, 254-933-5243. Several years ago the National Geographic Society produced a book and a film called "The President's Photographer" I am a part of that book and film. Along with the book and film is a traveling photo exhibit that highlights the Presidential photographers photos including a few of mine. I will be showing some of my White House photography of President George H.W. Bush. The public is invited. Link to the Bell County Museum. |
